Russia Will Support the Rapid Reconciliation of Armenia and Turkey, Zakharova
Russia consistently advocates for the prompt reconciliation of Armenia and Turkey, considering it an essential message for establishing stable peace and ensuring sustainable development in the South Caucasus. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a press briefing, commenting on the meeting between the special representatives of Armenia and Turkey regarding the normalization of relations in Yerevan.
“We are ready to continue supporting these efforts, including within the framework of the '3+3' format. We expect that the development of agreements between Ankara and Yerevan will take into account the existing realities and the interests of neighboring countries in the South Caucasus,” she noted.
According to the diplomat, it is crucial to exclude the destructive interference of external actors in this complex negotiation process. Zakharova also reminded that the first phase of the Armenian-Turkish negotiations took place in January 2022 in Moscow.
