After Trump's Visit to the UK, the Prime Minister to Officially Recognize the State of Palestine
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, is planning to officially recognize the state of Palestine following U.S. President Donald Trump's visit to the United Kingdom, according to The Times.
According to sources from the newspaper, Starmer plans to acknowledge Palestine this weekend, even before several countries, led by France, will do so at the upcoming UN General Assembly in New York next week.
The sources highlighted that the UK Prime Minister is under immense pressure from the Labour Party to recognize Palestine, but he will refrain from doing so until after Trump departs. The primary reason for the postponement is the desire to avoid making it a central theme during the press conference shared with Trump.
Earlier, several countries' governments, including those of the UK, France, Canada, and Australia, announced that they would recognize the state of Palestine at the UN General Assembly this month. Meanwhile, the United States has rejected the idea of recognizing the state of Palestine.
