Peace in Ukraine is Still Far Away: UN Secretary-General

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres does not foresee a "quick peace" in Ukraine. He stated that he does not see a rapid establishment of peace in Ukraine as the positions of both sides differ greatly.

"Our position is very clear. We want an immediate ceasefire, but one that will lead to a solution based on the UN Charter, international law, and General Assembly resolutions," Guterres also said.

According to him, the Kremlin "strongly opposes the idea of a ceasefire, insisting that a global agreement is necessary, and we all know how difficult it is to achieve this."
