Israel Under International Pressure: Netanyahu Calls for Economic Policy Change
Israel, under growing international pressure, must prepare for isolation and may have to shift towards a policy of economic self-sufficiency. This warning was issued by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a meeting at the Ministry of Finance, as reported by Ynet portal.
“We need to adapt more and more to an economic self-sufficiency policy for the country,” he said, acknowledging that his nation is currently dealing with a “new and difficult diplomatic reality” on the international stage.
“I believe in a free market and have worked to lead Israel towards a market revolution. But we might find ourselves in a situation where our defense industry is sanctioned. We will have to develop an internal defense industry,” Netanyahu added.
According to him, one of the reasons for this is the situation created in Western Europe, where Muslim minorities are exerting pressure on their governments regarding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, as well as the actions of Qatar and China, which are allegedly waging an information war against Israel by using the latest technologies.
