Trump Delays New Sanctions Against Russia: Washington Post

U.S. President Donald Trump's call for NATO allies to halt the import of Russian oil may be a tactic by the U.S. president to postpone new sanctions packages against Russia, reports The Washington Post.

“His proposal is unlikely to receive support from several members of the alliance, which comprises 32 members. Turkey is one of the largest buyers of Russian oil and is seeking to maintain ties with the Kremlin despite the war. Hungary and Slovakia, who are also buyers of Russian oil and among Trump's allies, are working to protect their economies from disruptions by seeking alternative energy supplies,” the publication states.
