New Details on Armenian Man Arrested with Gunshot Wounds in Stepanakert
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, an Armenian resident named Karen Albertovich Avanesyan (born in 1967) has been arrested in Stepanakert after leaving his home and heading towards a forest area near the city.
"The Armenian man took with him a Kalashnikov assault rifle along with four ammunition boxes, as well as five grenades. He attempted to approach an event taking place in Khankendi (in occupied Stepanakert) but was arrested by police officers. A criminal case has been initiated in conjunction with the Prosecutor General's Office and the State Security Service, and operational-investigative measures are underway," the statement noted.
It is worth mentioning that during the arrest, Avanesyan showed armed resistance to the police, throwing three hand grenades and firing his assault rifle. As a result of return fire, Avanesyan was wounded and subsequently arrested.
