Germany Identifies Security Risks, Tightens Visa Regulations for Russians

Germany has tightened the rules for issuing national and Schengen visas for Russian applicants. This was announced by the German Embassy in Moscow to the RTVI television channel.

The diplomatic mission stated that "due to military operations in Ukraine, security risks are emerging for the EU."

"Russian applicants who do not have valid reasons for travel should be prepared for longer and more thorough application review procedures," the embassy said.

It was previously reported that the European Union is preparing to tighten visa regulations for Russian citizens. The new regulations are expected to be published before the end of the year and will include stricter provisions for granting visas to Russians.
