Preparing for Tomorrow's Threats: Poland Modernizes Its Army

Poland is recruiting volunteers and modernizing its army, according to Reuters. The focus of military restructuring is on mobility, armored capabilities, air defense, and logistical operations.

Military training programs are preparing volunteers alongside professional soldiers, but they are not being integrated into regular units. This structure allows for the creation of scalable forces that can support Poland's defense strategy when necessary, similar to systems used in Lithuania and Germany.

Poland now boasts the third-largest army in NATO, after the United States and Turkey, with a personnel count of 216,000. By 2027, it plans to train an additional 100,000 volunteers.

“We are ready to confront today's real threats. And we are preparing for the threats that will be real tomorrow,” said Poland's Deputy Minister of Defense, Pawel Zalewski.
