New Opportunities for Electric Vehicle Charging in Armenia
The National Assembly has adopted in the first reading a new legislative proposal that allows citizens to connect electrical energy from their homes to charge electric vehicles without a separate subscription.
The draft law on amendments and additions to the law on "Energy" was approved in today's session of the National Assembly. It specifies that the electric energy supplied to consumers can also be consumed in their parking lots and in other residential areas registered as independent property units, outside of the consumption system’s installation area, as long as the connection to the consumer's consumption system is implemented in accordance with current regulatory legal acts.
“The draft aims to create new opportunities for charging electric vehicles, ensuring that the connection of the charging station to the electric grid is possible for the same consumer, provided there are technical capabilities, without an additional connection fee,” stated co-author Tsovinar Vardanyan.
The draft explicitly states that the service of charging electric vehicles is not subject to licensing, meaning that any individual can provide such a service.
