Legal Process to Begin: Andreasian on the Renovation of the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex

“Many assessments have been made during this process. I have never behaved in that way, but I must say that we will also initiate legal proceedings regarding those assessments because people must answer for what they say, and they must respond to all the absurdities, inaccuracies, and activities that defame and target people's dignity and honor, which are continuously perpetrated,” said Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasian during a Q&A session in the National Assembly, addressing criticisms related to the renovation of the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex.

“Appropriate lawsuits will be filed soon, and as a result, we will see which assessments are accurate and to what extent,” the minister added.

“What is happening at the Genocide Memorial and Museum is very simple: for over 60 years, we have not had a renovation process here, and we have had serious problems related to drainage, which, had they been resolved on time, we probably wouldn’t have those issues today. Additionally, we have faced a situation where works were carried out in 2015, executed hastily without considering many problems... We are currently trying to restore our most significant monument to appropriate condition because thousands of people visit there every April 24th, and who would be held accountable if a slab was to fall from the columns… Now, this is being done through the procedures stipulated by the law,” the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports concluded.
