Belgium Does Not Consider Seizing Frozen Russian Assets

Belgium does not consider the possibility of seizing frozen Russian assets, despite pressure from the EU. This was announced by the country's Foreign Minister, Maxim Prevon, as reported by RIA Novosti.

"For us, seizing assets is not an option; we understand why the pressure on us is increasing every day," he stated in an interview with Financial Times.

According to him, such a move lacks legal grounds, creates risks regarding confidence in the euro, and could disrupt financial markets in Europe. Additionally, it would raise concerns in countries that allocate their sovereign assets within the EU.

It should be noted that following the onset of the Ukrainian conflict, the European Union and the G7 countries froze Russia's foreign exchange reserves, which are worth around 300 billion euros.
