Russia Bombards Ukraine Overnight, Casualties Reported
Russia has launched the largest airstrike against Ukraine since the beginning of the war, resulting in a fire at the main government building in the center of Kyiv. At least two fatalities have been reported, including one child, according to Reuters.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that a number of cities have been damaged by missile and drone strikes. “These murders are deliberate and only prolong the war when peace negotiations could have long been underway,” wrote Zelensky, calling on allies to strengthen Ukraine's air defenses.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko noted that this is the first instance during the war when Kyiv's main government building has been targeted. According to Ukrainian military data, the Russian side launched 805 drones and 13 missiles overnight, with Ukrainian defense forces managing to destroy 751 of them.
