Israeli Army Intensifies Assault on Gaza City, Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday that the army is "intensifying" its assault on Gaza City and its surroundings, aiming to increase pressure on the Palestinian Hamas group. This was reported by AFP.

Israeli airstrikes have destroyed two high-rise buildings in Gaza City this week as troops have ramped up their operations in the area, seeking to capture the largest urban center in Palestinian territories. "We are intensifying the maneuver in the outskirts of Gaza City and right in Gaza City," Netanyahu said to ministers at the start of a cabinet meeting, according to a video released by his office.

Israel has not publicly declared the commencement of a major offensive to capture Gaza City, which Netanyahu's cabinet confirmed last month, but troops have been strengthening bombings and operations in the area for several weeks. "We are destroying the terrorists' infrastructure; we are dismantling the exposed terrorist towers," he stated.
