What Role Will Hayk Marutyan Play in the Next Parliamentary Elections? - 'Zhoghovurd'
In Armenia, there are still nearly 10 months until the parliamentary elections, yet, whether intentionally or not, openly or discreetly, various political forces have become active, including former members of the ruling party who now appear to be in opposition. This is reported by the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd'.
The parliamentary parties are already preparing for the elections, conducting regional meetings and visits. Meanwhile, very few of the extra-parliamentary forces have officially announced their candidacies for the position of Prime Minister.
Among these forces is Hayk Marutyan, who seems not to be actively campaigning for the ruling Civil Contract party this time, but rather intends to run with his own party. According to information from the newspaper, Hayk Marutyan will participate in the parliamentary elections with the 'New Forces' reformist party.
The party has confirmed that Marutyan is indeed preparing for the parliamentary elections in 2026. The fact is that Marutyan has alternated between being the mayor for the ruling party and a once-ousted opposition figure. Now, it appears that Marutyan has once again sided with those in power, recently making statements about the ‘Trump Path’ to please Nikol Pashinyan,” writes the newspaper.
