Trust in the EU Diminishes, Says Belgian Foreign Minister

The Belgian Foreign Minister, Maxim Previn, stated in an interview with Euronews that the inability of member states to reach an agreement on sanctions against Israel undermines the European Union's credibility on the international stage.

According to Previn, trust in the EU is "declining" due to the failure of member states to impose punitive measures for Israel's actions in Gaza and the West Bank. He emphasized that Germany, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Czech Republic, which are blocking sanctions against Israel, have a responsibility to uphold international law.

Previn noted, "I understand why Germany does not want to impose sanctions on Israel." Recently, Berlin decided to halt arms exports to Israel, yet Germany is still considered an ally of the Jewish state.
