Narek Mkrtchyan Responds to His Brother's Arrest

There will be a pre-investigation, the guilty will be revealed, and they will certainly bear responsibility to the full extent of the law. This was stated by Narek Mkrtchyan, Armenia's ambassador to the United States, in an interview with Azatutyun.

Recall that on September 3, Mkrtich Mkrtchyan, brother of Narek Mkrtchyan, who was recently appointed as Armenia's extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to the U.S., was arrested.

The press secretary of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Narek Sargsyan, announced that yesterday, officers from the Patrol Service of the Armavir region stopped a vehicle on Yerevanyan Street in the Parakar community for inspection. At that moment, a passenger exited the car and attempted to flee, throwing out items he had with him, including a gun and a powder-like substance.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the same time and taken to the Vagharshapat police station. “No prohibited items were found during his personal search,” Narek Sargsyan reported, adding that measures are being taken to locate the person who fled.
