Gaza Humanitarian Aid Air Deliveries Halted: AFP
The air delivery of humanitarian aid from Jordan to Gaza has been suspended, as reported today by a spokesperson for a government-related charity organization, according to AFP. No reason for the suspension has been provided.
Since the end of July, several countries have joined operations coordinated by Jordanian military forces to send parachute aid to Gaza, where the UN has declared famine following nearly two years of sustained conflict.
The air-dropped humanitarian assistance, which aid agencies say has been insufficient and cannot replace ground access, has been conducted with the agreement of Israel. The last air drop of humanitarian aid occurred on August 26.
Hussein Al-Sheblin, head of the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization, told AFP that the air deliveries were halted “in recent days,” without providing further details.
