Russia Has Never Opposed Ukraine's Membership to the EU, Says Putin

Russia considers Ukraine's potential membership in NATO a threat to its security, but this does not apply to the European Union. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.
“As far as Ukraine's membership in the EU is concerned, we have never been against it. When it comes to NATO, that's a different issue; we are talking about ensuring the security of the Russian Federation, and not just today,” said the Russian leader.
