Paris Court Issues Arrest Warrant for Former Syrian President Assad
A Paris court has issued arrest warrants for a group of high-ranking former Syrian officials, including former President Bashar al-Assad, after a 13-year investigation into crimes against humanity. This information was reported by France24, detailing that the warrants are related to the former officials' complicity in war crimes and crimes against humanity.
According to the report, French courts have issued seven arrest warrants concerning a 2012 bombing of a press center in Homs, which resulted in the deaths of two journalists: 56-year-old American journalist Marie Colvin and 28-year-old French freelance photographer Rémi Ochlik. In addition to Bashar al-Assad, the judges have also issued warrants for his brother and several former Syrian military leaders.
