German Defense Minister Criticizes European Commission President's Plans

Germany's Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has criticized European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for publicly discussing plans to deploy a multinational military contingent in Ukraine as part of long-term security guarantees for Kyiv following the war. According to Pistorius, discussing such options before the start of peace negotiations is fundamentally incorrect, as reported by Politico.

"The European Union has no responsibility or authority regarding the deployment of troops—whether for anyone or anything. I would be very cautious about any affirmation or comment regarding such considerations," he added.
