The US Will Explore All Options for Actions Against Russia
This week, US officials plan to thoroughly examine all possible options for actions against Russia in relation to the ongoing war in Ukraine. This was stated by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessenet in an interview with Fox Business.
“I believe all options are on the table with President Donald Trump, and we will examine them very closely this week,” he said, commenting on the likelihood of tightening sanctions against Russia.
Bessenet noted that the decision to discuss new measures against Russia was prompted by Moscow's recent escalation of strikes in Ukrainian territory following the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Alaska.
It is recalled that on August 15, Putin and Trump discussed pathways to resolve the Russo-Ukrainian war during negotiations in Alaska. On August 18, Donald Trump hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and leaders from several European countries at the White House.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Kyiv's security guarantees would be based on the work of a “coalition of volunteers,” which could include multinational forces.
