Putin on Russia's Approach to Resolving the Ukrainian Crisis

Russia has adopted the approach that no country can ensure its security at the expense of another when it comes to the Ukrainian crisis. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

He noted that the SCO makes a significant contribution to strengthening the atmosphere of cooperation and mutual trust across the entire Eurasian continent, thus helping to lay the political and socio-economic groundwork for the formation of a new system of stability, security, and peaceful development in Eurasia.

“The system that would replace the outdated Eurocentric and Euro-Atlantic models and take into account the interests of as many countries as possible would be truly balanced, preventing some states from attempting to ensure their security at the expense of others. Taking this opportunity, I want to say that the Russian side holds the same approach regarding the crisis around Ukraine,” said the Russian president.

Earlier, Putin had outlined the conditions for the long-term resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. It is worth noting that from August 31 to September 1, a major summit in the history of the SCO is taking place in China, with participation from over 20 leaders of foreign states as well as representatives of international organizations.
