Turkey Ceases All Trade with Israel, Says Foreign Minister Fidan
Turkey has banned Israeli civilian vessels from using its ports. Turkish ships will also not use Israeli ports, stated Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. His remarks were quoted by RIA Novosti.
“There is no country in the world that has gone further with sanctions than Turkey. We have completely halted trade with Israel. We have closed our ports to Israeli ships. We do not allow Turkish vessels to use Israeli ports. I emphasize that there is no other country that has fully ceased trade with Israel,” said Fidan during a speech in parliament.
Fidan also noted that Turkey has closed its doors to ships and aircraft carrying Israeli weapons and ammunition. Furthermore, he announced that Turkey has closed its airspace to Israel.
In May 2024, Turkey completely severed all trade ties with Israel. The Foreign Minister emphasized that this decision will only be revoked if the uninterrupted supply of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip is ensured.
