Red Cross Office to Close in Azerbaijan at Government's Request
The office in Baku will close, but we will not cease communication with the Azerbaijani authorities, said Daphne Maren, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Armenia, during a briefing with journalists in Syunik.
“Yes, unfortunately, we will have to close our delegation in Baku on September 3 at the request of the authorities. However, we do not believe that this will exhaust our opportunities to work on a number of issues. We will continue to offer our services in any role we may have as a neutral intermediary to assist in addressing the issue of missing persons. Discussions are still ongoing, and we believe that there may still be new opportunities to work,” stated the head of the ICRC delegation.
