Detention Applied to Foreign Ministry Employee: Investigative Committee Provides Details

A public criminal prosecution has been initiated against an employee of the Republic of Armenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the first part of Article 418 of the Criminal Code (state treason). As a measure of restraint, detention has been applied to this individual.

The person in question is not a high-ranking official and has not served as a consulate representative of Armenia abroad. This information was reported by the Investigative Committee.

During the pre-trial investigation of the criminal case, no evidence has been obtained regarding the involvement of other individuals in the alleged crime, including other employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia. It was noted that, according to sources from Factor.am, the NSS has discovered an official within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who was in contact with an Azerbaijani and conveyed important information to them.
