There Are Deep Problems Related to Productivity in Our Country: Pashinyan

During a government meeting, the issue of subsidizing tomato purchases was discussed. Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan presented a project proposing assistance for economic entities involved in the purchase of tomatoes for the production of tomato paste in the organization of tomato purchase processes for the year 2025.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the need to implement this program arose due to the abundant harvest of tomatoes, which is certainly positive. “I have had the opportunity to say that when the harvest is low, it is a problem for us, and when it is plentiful, it is also a problem for us. The essence of the program is that no tomato producer should be left at the doors of factories. Our table tomatoes are considered quite a good product, whereas industrial tomatoes are not deemed profitable. This Pashinyan conditioned by mentioning that we have deep issues related to processing efficiency,” Pashinyan stated.

“There are deep problems related to productivity and efficiency in our country. As far as I understand, this year we have received a record amount of harvest. We need to understand what the reasons for this are; perhaps new perceptions have developed and we should engage more seriously with tomatoes. I am not completely sure, but I draw attention to this fact. I would like to note with satisfaction that after numerous ups and downs, we are entering a phase of sustainable development in the agricultural sector. I must state that these figures are proven and substantiated by export volumes. The fact that this year we have seen significant increases in the export of our main agricultural products is telling,” emphasized Nikol Pashinyan.
