Armen Ashotyan: We See Mikhail Surbazan Behind a Glass Wall for No Reason

“I am here to express my support for Mikhail Surbazan. The presence of political prisoners in any country is a shame for that country and its people. It is doubly shameful that society and the people do not adequately fight for the freedom of these individuals,” said the Vice President of the Republican Party of Armenia, Armen Ashotyan, in a conversation with reporters before Mikhail Surbazan's court session.

Ashotyan added that the political disagreements between him and Mikhail Surbazan are of no importance to him compared to the fact that the spiritual leader of his church is unlawfully persecuted and imprisoned for his beliefs. “This is a matter of conscience, whether political or otherwise,” Ashotyan stated.

“There is not a single layer in society that Nikol Pashinyan has not created an opportunity for mobilization. The public struggle for the freedom of these individuals is far from being adequate. It is ashamed for all of us that today we must see Mikhail Surbazan behind a glass wall for no reason,” he emphasized.
