Russia is 'dragging Trump by the nose', Lavrov comments on US lawmakers' statements
Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump both want 'peace' in Ukraine, but the actions of European politicians suggest that they do not want this. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with NBC News.
“We want peace in Ukraine. US President Trump also wants peace in Ukraine. However, the actions of our European partners show that they do not want peace. They say they cannot allow Ukraine to lose. They cannot allow Russia to win. These are the categories they are using - 'victory', 'defeat', and so on,” said Sergey Lavrov, adding that Putin also 'wants peace.'
Lavrov also commented on the statements made by American lawmakers asserting that Russia is 'dragging Trump by the nose'. “Lawmakers or the media should not decide what guides US President Donald Trump,” said the Russian Foreign Minister.
