Turkey to Earn Billions from 'Trump Route', Says Uraloglu
The Kars-Igdir-Aralik-Dilucu railway, which connects Turkey to the Nakhchivan border, and more broadly referred to as the 'Trump Route', is projected to bring Turkey $3.6 billion in profit over the next 30 years, stated Turkey's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu during an interview with reporters.
"The railway artery leading to the border with Azerbaijan will become a crucial link, particularly important for the entire region," emphasized the minister. According to him, this corridor will significantly reduce the shipping time of goods between Europe and Asia, making rail transport more demanded than maritime transport.
The costs of constructing the 224-kilometer railway in Eastern Anatolia will be greatly justified, Uraloglu added. The head of Turkey's Ministry of Transport described the Kars-Igdir-Aralik-Dilucu railway as a 'strategic investment'. "The 'Trump Route' is the shortest path leading to Turkic states and countries in Southeast and East Asia. Approximately 15 million tons of cargo will be transported along this route annually," the minister noted.
