Israeli Leader Calls UN Report on Gaza Famine 'Fabricated'
The Israeli leader has described the UN report on the famine in Gaza as 'fabricated'. In his statement, the Israeli leader drew a historical parallel, comparing accusations against Israel to the medieval blood libel against Jews.
Netanyahu stated that combating such accusations is exceedingly difficult, as, according to him, shocking images are often misleading. He emphasized that some of the published images of malnourished children could be related to congenital diseases rather than lack of food.
As a solution to the issue, the Prime Minister underscored the necessity of ceasing military operations as soon as possible. Additionally, Netanyahu expressed concern over the role of social media, urging to 'do something' about the algorithms that, in his view, contribute to the rapid spread of misinformation.
Earlier, the UN released a report for the first time, indicating that there is evidence that the situation in certain areas of Gaza has reached a level of actual famine since August 15.
