Israel Demands Creation of Buffer Zone in Lebanon

Israel has rejected a proposal by U.S. special envoy Tom Barak to halt military operations with Hezbollah.

According to Al-Jadeed television, despite Israel's willingness to gradually stop strikes in southern Lebanon, there is a crucial condition: several border villages must be completely evacuated to serve as a buffer zone.

Strategic Planning Minister Ron Dermer stated in negotiations with Barak that Israel is prepared to abandon the elimination of Hezbollah commanders and withdraw its forces from several key positions, but at the same time, it will maintain a "security zone."
