Arrests in Yerevan and Gyumri: Large Quantities of Drugs Discovered
The latest revelation by the Criminal Police’s Department for Combating Illegal Drug Trafficking was the result of inter-agency collaboration, as reported by the National Police of Armenia.
The operational information was carried out together with officials from the State Revenue Committee’s Department for Combating Smuggling.
On August 13, at 3:20 PM, a 46-year-old man from Gyumri was arrested on Moldovan Street in the capital. During his search, 1 kilogram and 40 grams of marijuana and a gas pistol were found.
A criminal case was initiated in the Economic Crimes and Smuggling Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee.
Operational-investigative activities continued in cooperation with the officers of the Criminal Police’s Shirak Regional Department and the Shirak Patrol Service.
On August 14, at 6:10 PM, a 23-year-old foreign national was arrested on suspicion of drug acquisition in Gyumri. During his search, 500 grams of marijuana was found.
On August 15, based on a court decision, a search was conducted at the home of the 46-year-old Gyumri resident arrested in Yerevan, resulting in the discovery of a glass container containing about 300 grams of Alpha-PVP, an electronic scale, and three grenade detonators.
Chemical and forensic examinations have been appointed. Both arrested men have been remanded in custody, and investigations are ongoing to clarify the circumstances.
