EU Ambassador Discusses Visa Liberalization for Armenia
The visa liberalization for Armenia is realistic. This was stated by EU Ambassador Vassilis Maraghos in an interview with CivilNet. According to the ambassador, since 2019, the EU has not started a dialogue on visa liberalization with any other partner besides Armenia.
"The start of the dialogue on visa liberalization with Armenia was a politically exceptional step taken last year. We launched it on September 9, 2024. In the last five years, under the presidency of Ursula von der Leyen, we have not actually started a visa liberalization dialogue with any other partner. So, this is a significant event. And we did it because we believe in it, because we believe it is realistic," Maraghos said.
The EU ambassador considers the work done by Armenia to date sufficient to achieve visa liberalization. "We had assessment missions when High Representative Kaja Kallas was here in June. She announced the completion of the work of the internal committee for preparing the action plan for visa liberalization," Maraghos added.
