What Trump Requested from European Leaders During Negotiations
U.S. President Donald Trump requested parties to refrain from using the term "ceasefire" during closed-door negotiations with European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This was reported by the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal.
“During the discussions held behind closed doors, Trump asked the leaders to stop using this term,” the report stated. It was noted that instead of "ceasefire," European leaders agreed to use the term "halt to hostilities."
The meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky took place on August 18 at the White House. In addition to them, several European leaders also participated in the negotiations, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
