Prosecutor Demands 2.6 Years of Imprisonment for Defendant in Sona Mnatsakanyan Case

The prosecutor has demanded a 2.6-year prison sentence for Aram Navasaradyan, the defendant in the Sona Mnatsakanyan case. Additionally, a driving ban for a period of one year has been requested as an extra penalty.

The prosecutor requested that the current restrictions on Aram Navasaradyan remain unchanged until the court decision comes into effect. The judge has retreated to the deliberation room to make a ruling.

It is recalled that on April 26, around 18:05, at the intersection of Paronyan and Leo streets, the commander of an escort unit of the Traffic Police of the RA, while driving a Toyota Prado, hit a 28-year-old woman from the Ararat region, causing her serious injuries. She was taken to the Nairi Medical Center, where she unfortunately did not regain consciousness and passed away. The convoy was escorting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the time of the incident, and the deceased woman was pregnant.

Later, during a court session, Aram Navasaradyan, the driver involved in the accident that killed Sona Mnatsakanyan, refused to answer journalists' questions, stating only that he does not accept the charges presented by the court and does not consider himself guilty. Sona Mnatsakanyan's father has also demanded 10 million drams in compensation for expenses in court.
