Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Armenian Prisoners Held in Azerbaijan

The issue of the repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and civilian individuals held in Azerbaijan continues to be a priority for the Republic of Armenia. This was conveyed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to a question from Tert.am.

“Recently, the issue was publicly addressed at the highest level by the Prime Minister of Armenia, who emphasized that there is no negotiation in which this issue is not given appropriate attention. Armenian representatives raise the question in various formats of meetings and seek solutions,” the Ministry stated.

“Similarly, the release of detained individuals remains a primary agenda for the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, particularly in communications with the Azerbaijani side, hoping for a positive resolution, also as an important step towards building trust between the parties. The topic and potential solutions are regularly discussed during communications with international partners, both on bilateral and multilateral platforms, including discussions with representatives of the ICRC,” the Ministry added.
