Landslides in Karahunj: Residents Are Afraid
The activation of landslides in the Karahunj community of Syunik province has raised serious concerns among residents. This was reported by news.am.
In recent years, there have been signs of soil movement, tilted trees, cracks in walls, and areas at risk of collapse, seriously endangering the safety of people and their property.
Residents are terrified; they say they cannot sleep at night and nervously monitor the changes occurring in the soil layers during the day. Some residential homes have already been significantly damaged, and a few have become uninhabitable.
Residents have repeatedly reached out to community and provincial officials, but they claim the responses are vague, and real assistance is still lacking. The Governor of Syunik province, Robert Ghukasyan, has promised to approach the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure.
However, residents are demanding concrete actions before the danger leads to irreversible consequences.
