Trump Worried Zelensky Might Disrupt Alaska Talks

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed concerns that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could disrupt negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement during the initial phase, should he participate in the summit between Russia and the U.S. in Alaska on August 15. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal.

According to their information, European officials initially attempted to secure participation from representatives of Europe or Kyiv at the Alaska talks, including proposing NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Zelensky as candidates. However, following a phone conversation between Trump and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on August 13, they retracted this demand, while the U.S. president raised concerns about the possible implications of Zelensky's presence at the meeting.

Officials told the newspaper that Trump agreed to inform the head of the Kyiv regime about the results of discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin before informing European leaders.
