Prisoner Exchange Between Russia and Ukraine

Ukraine has returned 84 Russian servicemen to Russia, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. In exchange, 84 Ukrainian servicemen from the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been handed over to Kyiv.

The agency emphasized that the exchange took place with the mediation of the United Arab Emirates. Ukraine has not yet commented on the reports regarding the exchange.

It is noteworthy that delegations from Russia and Ukraine reached an agreement on the exchange during negotiations held in Istanbul at the beginning of June. The talks included the exchange of heavily wounded soldiers and prisoners between the ages of 18 and 25, as well as the handover of the bodies of soldiers killed in the war. The exchanges began on June 9. The number of released prisoners in each phase has not been disclosed. The previous exchange occurred on July 4.
