EU Ready to Support Implementation of Armenia-Azerbaijan Agreements, Antonio Costa Says
The European Union is ready to assist in the implementation process of the agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington. This was stated by European Council President Antonio Costa during a phone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Costa emphasized the significance of the agreements made in Washington for ensuring long-term peace and stability in the region and expressed the EU's willingness to support their implementation.
It should be noted that on August 8, a trilateral meeting was held in Washington involving the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and the United States. Following this meeting, Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev, with the participation of Donald Trump, signed a joint declaration.
A separate point of the declaration is dedicated to the opening of transport communications and ensuring unobstructed communication between the main territory of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. A special project titled "Trump's Path for International Peace and Prosperity" will be implemented in Armenia, which envisages U.S. support for securing this route.
