CNN Reports Trump and Putin to Meet at Military Base
The meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to take place at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Alaska, according to CNN sources.
Shortly after preparations for the meeting began, organizers concluded that the only city capable of hosting the summit would be Anchorage, the largest city in the state. The Elmendorf-Richardson base, located in the northern outskirts of the city, was deemed suitable to meet security requirements, despite the White House's hopes to avoid a scenario where the Russian president would be on an American military installation.
As noted by sources from the network, various options in Europe were immediately dismissed due to the arrest warrants issued for Putin by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. At the same time, the option of Hungary was considered, as Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is close to both Putin and Trump.
