Trump's Participation in Peace Process a Strong Guarantee Against External Aggressions, Political Scientist
The involvement of U.S. President Donald Trump in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia serves as a powerful guarantee against external aggressions. This was stated by former Latvian President Valdis Zatlers.
“Moreover, for Azerbaijan, it is also a factor of trust because during the trilateral negotiations in Moscow, there were substantial doubts that Russia is an impartial party and is genuinely supporting Armenia. Such a thing is absent in the mediation by the U.S.; America guarantees neutrality in the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This creates confidence among both Azerbaijanis and Armenians that they can calmly and practically communicate with each other without fears that a strong mediator is practically supporting one of the parties,” he said.
The political scientist noted that the U.S. control over the transport and transit project called Trump's Route to Peace and International Prosperity is a warning to Russia and Iran. He also does not find the simultaneous control of Russian border guards on the Armenian-Iranian border and the participation of American companies in the construction of the "Trump Route" contradictory.
