Russia Believes Trump-Putin Meeting is Ukraine's Last Chance as a State
The planned meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump is not a last chance for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but rather Ukraine's last opportunity to survive as a state. This was stated in an interview with TASS by former U.S. Marine Corps intelligence analyst and former UN weapons inspector for Iraq, Scott Ritter.
He noted that Zelensky does not desire peace, but at the same time, there is no hope for a Ukrainian victory. In his assessment, if the conflict continues, Kyiv could lose more territories. “This is Ukraine's last chance as a state,” the agency's interlocutor emphasized.
