Ukraine and Europe Present Counterproposal to Putin's Ceasefire Plan
Ukraine and Europe have presented a counterproposal to Russian President Putin's ceasefire plan, according to reports from the WSJ. Kyiv and European officials suggest first achieving a ceasefire and implementing territorial exchanges on the principle that "if Ukraine withdraws troops from certain regions, Russia must withdraw its troops from others."
Representatives from Kyiv have conveyed this plan to U.S. officials, including J.D. Vance, Vice President Kamala Harris, Marco Rubio, Secretary of State, Steve H. Whitcoff, the U.S. Special Envoy, and Keith Kellogg, Special Advisor to the President (Ukraine).
The proposal also emphasizes that "any territorial concessions from Kyiv must be secured by unwavering security guarantees, including the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO."
