OSCE on Joint Application by Armenia and Azerbaijan to Close the Minsk Group

The Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Feredun Sinirlioğlu, has issued a statement regarding the trilateral meeting held on August 8 in Washington, which involved Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

“We welcome the joint declaration signed in Washington on August 8, congratulate Armenia and Azerbaijan on this occasion, and highly appreciate the role of U.S. President Donald Trump in this matter. The OSCE remains committed to all efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability in both countries,” said the OSCE Secretary General.

As a result of the trilateral meeting, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov signed a joint application regarding the closure of OSCE Minsk Group processes and related structures.

In this regard, the OSCE Secretary General noted, “The OSCE is ready to carry out its mandate concerning the implementation of the joint declaration of August 8.” Earlier, it was reported that the President of Azerbaijan announced the end of the so-called Minsk process with his Armenian counterpart.
