Trump Calls Russia an 'Extraordinary Threat' to the U.S.
U.S. President Donald Trump has extended the national emergency declaration related to Russia's actions against Ukraine, labeling Moscow’s policies as an 'unusual and extraordinary threat' to the national security and foreign policy of the United States. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
The text notes that the 2022 decree had already banned the import of Russian oil, petroleum products, and related goods into the U.S. The new document reaffirms that the state of emergency remains in effect and adds a 25% additional tariff on imports from India for purchases of Russian oil. This tariff will come into effect 21 days after the publication of the decree, starting from August 27, and will not apply to goods that are already in transit at that time.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is the West's long-term strategy, and sanctions have severely impacted the global economy. According to him, the primary goal of the West is to exacerbate the lives of millions of people.
