Putin and Trump's Meeting Date Announced
The following week has been designated as the target date for the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump. This was announced by Yuri Ushakov, the assistant to the Russian leader.
Ushakov responded to reporters' inquiries about a publication by The New York Times (NYT), stating: "Regarding the option of a trilateral meeting that was discussed yesterday for some reason in Washington, that option was merely mentioned by an American representative. However, it has not been discussed. The Russian side has left this option without comment." He emphasized that the Russian side proposes to fully focus on organizing a bilateral meeting.
"We propose, first and foremost, to focus on preparing for the bilateral meeting with Trump, and we believe that the main thing is for this meeting to be successful and effective," he added.
It is worth noting that Donald Trump has had a phone conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Trump stated that the conversation between Witkoff and Putin has been more effective than expected. At the same time, The New York Times reported that according to its sources, Trump intends to meet personally with Putin next week.
