What is in the Fridge is What We Put There, Says Pashinyan
Armenia is a home for each of us, just like the homes we just left to go about our business. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“Who among you stands in the living room and says, ‘living room, listen, I need an Italian sofa, an Italian dining table, a Japanese television, and a Japanese air conditioner, are you listening, living room?’ Or who stands in front of their refrigerator and says, ‘refrigerator, I’m about to open your door, and if there aren’t 2 kg of normal quality Chanakh cheese, 2 boxes of butter, 2 eggs, and milk in there, I’m going to throw you out the window?’ None of us do this. Why not? Because we know that what is in the fridge is what we put there. The state is the same. Well, Armenia is also our home. A home consists of a living room, a dining room, a bedroom, and of course, it only contains what we put in there.
And this is why I say that no citizen of the Republic of Armenia spends as much on their personal welfare as the state and community budgets do. And the welfare of each of you does not primarily depend on how much each of you spends on yourselves; it depends on how much the state and community budget spends on your welfare.
Therefore, each of us should consider that when paying the state budget of Armenia, we are not giving something to someone else, but rather moving it from one pocket to another,” he said.
