Government Constantly Changes Its Stance on Critical Issues, Says Tatoyan
The former Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, writes:
“Today, the government is keeping vital questions regarding our future and that of our children secret while plunging us into a state of informational chaos. The government propaganda has systematically concealed what specific solutions are being planned, and those raising questions are targeted with labels such as 'anti-Russian', 'anti-American', and silenced through aggressive campaigning.
Additionally, the government continuously alters its stance on critical issues of foreign policy, repeatedly announcing 'red lines' only to disregard them later. In conditions of informational uncertainty, the Armenian space has once again been flooded with Azerbaijani information, which is being used for a systematic, planned propaganda campaign focused on Azerbaijani annexationist projects and interests. There are also certain international publications.
The Armenian government has reached a point where there are no concrete discussions on what Armenian state interests are; everything revolves around Azerbaijani demands. The negotiations appear to only concern the fulfillment of Azerbaijani requirements. Many Azerbaijani issues have suddenly become central topics for discussion. It feels as though the conflict with Azerbaijan is related not to Artsakh but to the sovereign territory of Armenia—Syunik.
The Armenian government is obligated to provide the public detailed reports concerning these critical issues for our country's and everyone's safety, as it has-populistically promised multiple times in public forums, rather than skillfully misleading our society. This is the only thing it seems to have learned over the years,” Tatoyan stated in his post.
