Russia May Declare Partial Air Ceasefire with Ukraine
U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, is set to arrive in Moscow to persuade Russian President Vladimir Putin to "agree to a ceasefire" in Ukraine. This was reported by the American newspaper The Hill.
On August 4, President Trump announced that Witkoff's visit to Russia is scheduled for mid-week, likely on Wednesday or Thursday.
During previous visits to Russia, Witkoff has met with Russian diplomats and personally with Putin. This has led to some progress in the peace process in Ukraine. The new trip comes against the backdrop of Trump's ultimatum for the imposition of secondary tariffs on Russia and its trade partners if the conflict is not resolved within 10-12 days.
